Muhyiddin tegaskan beliau bukan pemimpin rasis kerana dahulukan Melayu

KUALA LUMPUR 15 April - Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin menegaskan, beliau bukan seorang pemimpin yang rasis hanya kerana pendiriannya yang mendahulukan Melayu walaupun sesetengah pihak khususnya pembangkang kini menggelarnya sebagai 'Ultra Malay.'

Sambil mengulangi pendirian itu tidak bertentangan dengan gagasan 1Malaysia kerana ia selaras dengan Perlembagaan, Timbalan Perdana Menteri berkata, masih ramai masyarakat Melayu perlu dibantu kerana kaum majoriti itu sebenarnya ketinggalan dalam banyak aspek berbanding kaum lain.

''Saya bukan perkauman hanya kerana kenyataan mendahulukan Melayu. Kita (Barisan Nasional) merupakan sebuah kerajaan bertanggungjawab yang menghormati hak semua kaum dan ia dijamin.

''Namun, dalam konteks negara kita, Melayu merupakan penduduk majoriti dan ramai pula yang ketinggalan, maka sudah tentu perhatian dan tumpuan terarah kepada kaum majoriti secara bilangannya," katanya.

Beliau berkata demikian ketika berucap merasmikan majlis Pelancaran Skuad Jelajah Motivasi 1Malaysia Gabungan Pelajar Melayu Semenanjung (GPMS)-Score A, di Universiti Malaya (UM) di sini hari ini.

Hadir sama pada majlis itu ialah Menteri Belia dan Sukan, Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek, Presiden GPMS, Jais Abdul Karim dan Timbalan Naib Canselor Hal Ehwal Pelajar UM, Prof. Madya Datuk Dr. Azraei Idris.

Mengulas lanjut, Timbalan Perdana Menteri berkata, orang Melayu bukan sahaja ketinggalan dalam ekonomi malah gagal bersaing dalam bidang pendidikan khususnya dari segi pencapaian dan penguasaan kemahiran sesuatu bidang yang profesional.

Menurutnya, oleh sebab itu, kerajaan perlu sentiasa membantu orang Melayu agar seiring dengan pencapaian kaum lain tetapi pada masa yang sama pelbagai insentif juga ditawarkan kepada penduduk bukan Melayu agar mereka terus maju.

''Adalah sesuatu yang tidak adil menggelarkan kita sebagai perkauman hanya kerana membantu kaum Melayu agar lebih maju sedangkan kerajaan tidak pernah menafikan hak-hak kaum lain," jelasnya.

Dalam pada itu, bercakap mengenai skuad jelajah motivasi 1Malaysia, Muhyiddin memuji usaha GPMS untuk meningkatkan lagi pencapaian akademik pelajar Melayu khususnya di kawasan pedalaman.

Katanya, usaha meningkatkan penguasaan ilmu bagi melahirkan modal insan terpelajar bukan merupakan tanggungjawab kerajaan semata-mata tetapi ia perlu dikongsi oleh pelbagai pihak khususnya pertubuhan bukan kerajaan (NGO).

''Inilah langkah yang wajar diikuti NGO yang lain kerana jika kita ingin menjadi bangsa yang berjaya tiada cara lain selain melahirkan generasi modal insan yang berilmu," ujarnya.

Beware of Garbage Trucks

How often do you let other people's nonsense change your mood? Do you let a bad driver, rude waiter, curt boss, or an insensitive employee ruin your day? Unless you're the Terminator, for an instant you're probably set back on your heels. However, the mark of a successful person is how quickly he/she can get back her focus on what's important. Sixteen years ago I learned this lesson. I learned it in the back of a New York City taxi cab. Here's what happened. 

I hopped in a taxi, and we took off for Grand Central Station.We were driving in the right lane when, all of a sudden, a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his breaks, skidded, and missed the other car's back end by just inches! The driver of the other car, the guy who almost caused a big accident, whipped his head around and he started yelling bad words at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was friendly. So, I said, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!'And this is when my taxi driver told me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck'. 

Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it. And if you let them, they'll dump it on you. When someone wants to dump on you, don't take it personally. You just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. You'll be happy you did.
So this was it: The 'Law of the Garbage Truck.' I started thinking, how often do I let Garbage Trucks run right over me? And how often do I take their garbage and spread it to other people: at work, at home, on the streets? It was that day I said, 'I'm not going to do it anymore.' I began to see garbage trucks. I see the load they're carrying. I see them coming to drop it off. And like my Taxi Driver, I don't make it a personal thing; I just smile, wave, wish them well, and I move on. One of my favorite football players of all time, Walter Payton, did this every day on the football field. He would jump up as quickly as he hit the ground after being tackled. He never dwelled on a hit. Payton was ready to make the next play his best.Good leaders know they have to be ready for their next meeting. Good parents know that they have to welcome their children home from school with hugs and kisses. Teachers and parents know that they have to be fully present, and at their best for the people they care about.The bottom line is that successful people do not let Garbage Trucks take over their day.What about you?What would happen in your life, starting today, if you let more garbage trucks pass you by?You'll be happier! Selamat menyambut Maulidur Rasul

Maulidur Rasul yang jatuh pada pada hari Khamis 12 Rabiul Awal Tahun Gajah bersamaan dengan 23 April 571 merupakan hari keputeraan Nabi Muhammad s.a.w (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). Baginda adalah nabi terakhir yang diutus oleh Allah Subhanahu Wataala.

Setiap tahun pada hari itu, umat Islam di seluruh dunia akan mengadakan majlis memperingati keputeraan Nabi Muhammad s.a.w dengan mengadakan beberapa acara seperti perarakan, ceramah dan sebagainya. Banyak kelebihan dan keistimewaan yang akan dikurniakan oleh Allah Subhanahu Wataala kepada mereka yang dapat mengadakan atau menghadiri majlis Maulidur Rasul.

Kita dapat lihat betapa besarnya kelebihan orang yang memuliakan majlis keputeraan Nabi Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, kerana bila berniat sahaja hendak mengadakan Maulud Nabi, sudah pun dikira mendapat pahala dan dimuliakan. Sememangnya bernazar untuk melakukan sesuatu yang baik merupakan doa dan dikira amal salih.

Jelas kepada kita bahawa pembalasan Allah Subhanahu Wataala terhadap kebaikan begitu cepat sehinggakan terdetik sahaja di hati hendak berbuat kebaikan, sudah Allah Subhanahu Wataala akan memberi pembalasan yang tiada ternilai. Seseorang yang beriman, kuat bersandar kepada Allah, ketika di dalam kesusahan dia tetap tenang dan hatinya hanya mengadu kepada Allah dan mengharapkan pertolongan dan kasih sayang Allah Subhanahu Wataala.

Keberkatan mengadakan Majlis Maulud itu bukan sahaja didapati oleh orang yang mengadakan majlis itu, tetapi seluruh ahli rumah atau orang yang tinggal di tempat itu turut mendapat keberkatannya.

Mengingati Allah sentiasa

An old man lived on a farm in the mountains of eastern
Kentucky with his young grandson.

Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the
kitchen table reading his Qur'an.

His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to
imitate him in every way he could.

One day the grandson asked, 'Grandpa! I try to read
the Qur'an just like you but I don't understand it,
and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close
the book.

What good does reading the Qur'an do?'

The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in
the stove and replied, 'Take this coal basket down to
the river and bring me back a basket of water.'

The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked
out before he got back to the house.

The grandfather laughed and said, 'You'll have to move
a little faster next time,' and sent him back to the
river with the basket to try again.

This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was
empty before he returned home.

Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was
impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to
get a bucket instead.

The old man said, 'I don't want a bucket of water; I
want a basket of water.

You're just not trying hard enough,' and he went out
the door to watch the boy try again.

At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he
wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as
fast as he could, the water would Leak out before he
got back to the house.

The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran
hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket
was again empty.

Out of breath, he said, 'See Grandpa, it's useless!'
'So you think it is useless?' The old man said, 'Look
at the basket.'

The boy looked at the basket and for the first time
realized that the basket was different.

It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket
and was now clean, inside and out.

'Son, that's what happens when you read the Qur'an.
You might not understand or remember everything, but
when you read it, you will be changed, inside and out.

That is the work of Allah in our lives.'

Think of some of your life’s achievements. It’s okay. No one’s watching. Go ahead. What accomplishments make you proud of yourself?

Now think about how many of these life accomplishments did you achieve completely on your own? Let me answer that question for you. The answer is, “none.” Our successes always come with help.

The real question is, “Can you name the people who were a part of each of your successes?” Who are they and what did they do? Write down their names. Think about these people.

Now, I’ll bet you’re feeling a bit or even a burst of gratitude. You have just reminded yourself how important others have been to you in your life. You have not traveled alone.

Most of us feel some amount of stress when we think about what it will take to achieve our dreams. We think, “How in the world are we going to get from here to where we hope to be?” Luckily, the answer is, “not alone.” Other people will help us.

So what’s the best way to achieve your life goals? Here’s the first answer. Look to the people who have already helped you. Thank each one personally and privately. Tell them why they are important to you and how they helped you succeed in the past. Let these people know how valuable they are to you. If you feel that you’ve thanked someone before, consider doing it again in an even more meaningful way. Keep these people in your corner. University of Michigan psychologist Christopher Peterson wrote in his book, A Primer in Positive Psychology, “In our experience with many dozens of gratitude letters…they ‘work’ 100% of the time in the sense that the recipient is moved, often to tears, and the sender is gratified as well.”

Gratitude researcher Robert Emmons recently reviewed the growing evidence that feelings of gratitude improve the quality of our lives. In one study he found that people who “wrote up to five things for which they were grateful or thankful” on a weekly basis “exercised more regularly, reported fewer physical symptoms, felt better about their lives as a whole, and were more optimistic about the upcoming week.” Positive Psychology co-founder Martin Seligman of the University of Pennsylvania, and his colleagues also discovered that when people took a few minutes each evening to write down “three good things” that happened to them during the day, their happiness increased and their depressive symptoms decreased.

Emmons found in another study that people who feel gratitude are more likely to help others. Emmons wrote, “Gratitude leads not only to feeling good, but also to doing good.”

So what’s the best way to achieve your life goals? Here’s the second answer. Think about who else could help you. Through a lens of gratitude, think about how you could repay them in advance for their support. What could you do for them now? How could you help them in some way? Your commitment to helping them will demonstrate two things: You care about what they care about, and you appreciate the role they could play in your life.

You will stand out as a giver, and leave the takers of the world standing in line. Your new contacts will be grateful to you. And we know what happens when people feel gratitude.

Gratitude and giving will lead to your success.
